8 Acquisitions Behind Google's Robotic Ambition

#1 Boston Dynamics

This is Google’s latest acquisition. Boston Dynamic’s impressive robotic creations include two disturbingly life-like robots named, Petman (Protection Ensemble Test Mannequin) and Atlas, the latter is relatively new and is meant to assist in a variety of search and rescue missions. But being funded by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), can make one speculate as to whether the company’s creations will only be used for domestic purposes or will they be doing military assignments too in future.

#2 Bot & Dolly

This company has two robots named IRIS and Scout which have been extensively used in feature length films, TV ads, Las Vegas shows and large scale art installations. The company provides cutting-edge industry-specific tools which enable others to realize their otherwise seemingly impossible dreams. Bot & Dolly’s engineering team and their IRIS were heavily involved in the making of the critically acclaimed film Gravity.
