6. Hiccups give up

Mallory Kievman, a 13 year-old genius, comes up with cure for hiccups. The young scientist has developed lollipops, Hiccupops, that she says can stop hiccups. They were developed in a trial-and-error fashion, after much experiment with more than 100 remedies before she found the apple-cider-vinegar-and-sugar formula.

Last spring at the Connecticut Invention Convention she won top honors for her innovation. And as a result, the patent for Hiccupops was filed on her behalf. Since a team of business students from the University of Connecticut is helping her to make the candy ready for sale, the patent is currently pending. As they hope, Hiccupops will hit the market this summer.
