6. All the President’s Men

Year: 1974

The book narrates the journey of two reporters named Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post, who go on to investigate the Watergate incident resulting in the resignation of then American President Richard Nixon under suspicious and mysterious circumstances.

Conflict

The reporters have this undying zeal to know all about the scandalous Watergate incident. There is a lot of pressure from the White House about the confidentiality of the statistics, numbers, amount of money and the people associated with the scandal. There are barely any evidences and whatever witnesses are known, are threatened by political powers to not speak out a word.

Solution

The whole enclosure and toughness of the incident became the guiding spirit for the reporters. They followed every possible clue and tried taking information from every possible witness of the crime including waiters, women, cops, secretaries and security guards.
