6,618 employees quit Infosys in Q2
Mumbai:: IT major Infosys Technologies said it has increased its headcount by 7,646 in the July-September period this year, as attrition rate has decreased in the company. The company hired 14,264 employees in the second quarter this fiscal year, but nearly 6,618 employees left the organisation during the same period, leaving the employee net addition at 7,646, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. "We have seen record hiring this quarter and attrition has decreased," Infosys Member of the Board and Head - HRD and Education & Research TV Mohandas Pai said. The company witnessed a 17.1 percent increase in attrition rate in the first quarter of this fiscal from 10.9 per cent during the corresponding period in the previous fiscal. However, on quarter-on-quarter basis, the employee attrition rate in Infosys declined by 6.65 percent from the April-June level this year. As on September 31, 2010 Infosys and its subsidiaries have a total of 1,22,468 employees compared to 1,05,453 at the end of the September 31, 2009, it added. "Our new career architecture is showing positive results," Pai added. Infosys continues to increase its new clientele. The company, which counts BT Group, BP and Goldman Sachs among its clients, said it has added 27 clients during the quarter taking its total active clientele to 592. The company continued to generate new clients from the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Latin America regions this quarter. "Our portfolio of services and our enhanced focus on solutions as well as new engagement models are providing a compelling value proposition to our clients," said S D Shibulal, Chief Financial Officer, Infosys.
