6 People Who Represent Indian Luxury Market

Bhupindra Singh

Maharaja Bhupinder Singh was the ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Patiala. He was so incensed with Rolls Royce that he converted his fleet of Rolls Royce cars into garbage trucks as Rolls-Royce Company refused to accept his order for a brand new Rolls Royce in 1930s. The then British ruling enterprise forced Rolls-Royce quickly to calm the Maharaja by giving him a brand new car. You can imagine that if the Maharaja converted ‘Rolls-Royces into garbage trucks’, then he must have lived in the lap of luxury.

Almost 50 years post-independence, the socialist India cut all ties with luxury. It’s only in the past few years, Luxury and India became friends again. People like Singh, Kalyani Chawla and others are giving aid to it.
