In 2008, Yahoo invested $160 million on an internet video company called Maven, which did not yield as much extravaganzas as expected. As a result of the acquisition, Cambridge-based Maven became a wholly owned subsidiary of Yahoo. With the deal, Maven technology was used in the Yahoo video player, as well as in the Yahoo Video Advertising Platform that was used to serve both on- and off- network advertising for Yahoo! Partners. However, merely after 2years, in the mid of 2009 the courtship of Yahoo and Maven came to an end.
