Sony forecasted a net loss for 2011 to be at $1.1 billion. Its TV segment is seeing aggressive competition from LG and Samsung; the computer segment is facing competition from Dell; while its Playstation gaming console is seeing a trim down with the cheaper products from Microsoft and Nintendo. Apart from these even its MP3s, and its niche video-game market has been tumbling.
