Bangalore: Women are more prone to some cancers like breast cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer and colorectal cancer. Knowing about the symptoms of these common cancers and early detection may help save your life or the life of someone you love. You should have a deep concern about your body and should notice anything that's different, odd, or unexplainable. Thus you can cure the disease as earlier as possible. Here are some common symptoms of cancer, which are mostly affected to women. Swollen Lymph Nodes Swollen lymph nodes show the changes in the lymphatic system, which can be an earlier sign of cancer. Swollen lymph nodes can be extremely tender, painful, and blemishing. A lump or an enlarged lymph node under the arm could be a sign of breast cancer. Even if it is a painless lump on the neck, underarm, or groin it can be connected to leukemia. Swollen lymph nodes under the arms, swollen lymph nodes in the sides of the neck, or swollen lymph nodes in the groin are the areas known to have coalescence of lymph nodes. Pelvic or Abdominal Pain Pelvic pain should be considered as a serious one as it can be connected to so many types of decease. Sometimes it can be a common symptom of fibroids, ovarian cysts, and other reproductive tract disorders. It should not always be connected to cancer but make sure your doctor looks at all possible explanations and does a full exam. You should be more careful if the pain and cramping in the pelvis and abdomen end up with the bloating that often signals ovarian cancer. Red, Sore, or Swollen Breast While checking lumps in the breast if you could feel some swell or sore it could indicate inflammatory breast cancer. Noticing cellulite-like dimpled skin on an area of the breast can also be an earlier symptom. It's advised to go for a checkup if a breast felt swollen, hot, or irritated. Red or purplish discoloration should also be considered. In short you should call your doctor about any unexplained changes to your breasts. Nipple Changes All nipple changes are not breast cancer, but you should know which all are expected changes and which are signs of disease as it is critical to your breast health. So many women have been noticed a nipple that began to appear flattened, inverted, or turned sideways before being diagnosed with breast cancer. In many cases nipple started looking as it was turned inside out. You should also be careful with any type of nipple problems, such as itchy, scaly, or crusty skin on the nipple as it can sometimes leads to inflammatory breast cancer. So it is always advised to take any nipple changes seriously. Excessive Bruising or Bleeding Usually this symptom indicates something abnormal happening with the platelets or red blood cells. Not often but it can hardly be a sign of leukemia. Symptoms of leukemia described as bruising in strange places, such as fingers and hands, as well as red spots on face, neck, and chest etc. Some people have even noticed bleeding gums. It is believed that leukemia cells crowd out red blood cells and platelets by impairing the blood's ability to carry oxygen and clot.
