5. Akshay Kothari and Ankit Gupta

Akshay Kothari and Ankit Gupta are Stanford University students. They created an application called Pulse which was part of a regular course at The institute of Design. Pulse entered into a deal with LinkedIn of $90 million for its acquisition. Pulse operated into Mobile and Web news reading. The inspiration for creating the Pulse application came when they were frustrated by the inconvenience caused by reading news on the mobile devices. The app received positive reviews since it was intuitive and had a very easy to use interface. It further built its reputation when Apple chief executive Steve Jobs featured it during the launch of I pad. Apple already has huge market share when it comes to the technology domain and pulse was an instant hit among the millions of users of this product as it had really simple to use interface were even a not so educated person could easily surf through for news on Mobile or Web.
