Five Inventors Who Were Killed By Their Inventions
Marie Curie died of aplastic anemia, as a result of prolonged exposure to ionizing radiation from her research materials. Famous for her research on radioactivity, a technique to isolate the radioactive isotopes and the discovery of Polonium and Radium, Marie was the first person to be honored by two Nobel Prizes. Marie along with Pierre Curie took the task of separating Radium salt by differential crystallization. Marie Curie used to carry the radioactive isotopes in her pocket and stored them in her drawers. Unaware of the damaging effects of ionizing radiation, which caused aplastic anemia, Marie has faced her untimely death.
