4. Ignite a sense of desperation

When you are pushed against the wall, innovation happens or in other words Desperation is the mother of Innovation. During crisis or even during good times organizations need to apply innovation pressure on themselves, says Preston of InformationWeek. Shiv from Stanford advices doing a "pre-mortem" exercise wherein he says “Look ahead two, three, five years and assume that the business or some foundational IT project has failed. It forces organizations to face potential threats and address opportunities now, not when a crisis throws everyone into frenzy.”
