Amazon: 1997

Amazon, founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994, went public 3 years later on May 1997. The company initially offered 3 million shares at an opening price of $18 per share and made a market value of $54 million on the IPO.

Amazon currently has a market value of $88.42 billion and trades under symbol AMZN.

 

 

Google: 2004

Google, founded on September 4, 1998 got its first funding of $100,000 from Andy Bechtolsheim, Co-Founder of Sun Microsystems. The IPO took place 5 years later on August 19, 2004 which offered 19,605,052 shares at a price of $85 per share. It had a collection of $1.67 billion which estimated the market value of the company to be $23 billion on the first day.

The company which trades under the symbol GOOG has currently a market value of $188.61 billion.
