Skateboarding really wasn’t a popular game until Hawk wore his shoes and helmet. He started practicing the sport at the age of 12 and became a pro in it when he was 14. Later on he attended over 100 pro contests in which he won the title 73 times and  came second 19 times. It is said that Hawk has invented over 80 tricks to the game.

Hawk is the proud owner of one of the largest skateboarding companies in the world – BirdHouse. He also launched his own clothing line called the ‘Hawk Clothing’ and has also tied up with various brands like Activision, Six Flags, Kohl’s, Infospace, Adio shoes, Jeep and Sirius Satellite Radio. In 1999, Hawk launched a video game called Hawk’s Pro Skater which became an instant hit making him No. 1 action-sports video game franchise. According to Forbes in 2008, Hawk grossed over $12 million.
