4G Identity wins two bids to provide devices to UIDAI
Hyderabad: 4G Identity Solutions, Hyderabad based ID card maker and consultancy, has won two bids to provide fingerprint and iris recognition devices to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), reports PTI. The firm needs to supply twenty devices each for finger print and iris recognition and they will have to enroll 30,000 people. "We were given six weeks time to complete the prelude of the project, based on which the Government will go for pilot project," a company official told PTI. These devices will be used in the UIDAI Proof of Concept (PoC) tests. The objective of the UIDAI feasibility tests is to establish a definitive baseline for biometric data quality under Indian conditions. Subsequent to those tests, the devices and the data collected in the PoC will be used in the UIDAIs biometrics Centre of Competence. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been set up by the Government of India with a mandate to issue a unique identification number to all 1.2 billion residents of India. UIDAI invited global bids in December last year for supply, installation and commissioning of biometric and fingerprint devices. As many as 19 companies participated in the bidding process in which 4G ID won.
