4.6 Crore Unidentified Mobile Users In India: CAG Report
BANGALORE: Indian government is trying to take all necessary precautions to get attentive for the terrorist activities in the country but at the same time the telecom companies are not very serious about the issue of fake sim card that are used to operate the terrorist activities.
	
The Times Of India reports that in 2008 government made it mandatory for verification of all SIM card subscribers but The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report shows that 4.59 crore subscribers in the country are still without identity.
	The government has imposed penalty of 
4,200 on seven telecom companies for issuing subscription to unverified subscribers. CAG report also states that these telecom service providers after paying 
4oo crore have refused to pay the penalty and government has not taken any action against them yet.
The verification of subscribers for post paid connection was compulsory; however the department of telecom had imposed a ban on sale of pre-activated SIM cards without verification of subscribers in 2008.
