Bharat Desai
Bharat Desai, who is the co-founder and Chairman of Syntel, an outsourcing company headquartered in Michigan, made it to the third position of Indian American billionaires with a net worth 1.4 billion dollars.
Desai founded Syntel in 1980 and in the year 1997, the company went public, which presently has around 17,600 employees and annual revenues more than $532 million.
Earlier Desai was rated among “eight self-made stars who have built tidy empires in an array of industries”, by Forbes. He was also recognized as ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by the University of Michigan, USA Today and NASDAQ and the Harvard Business School awarded him with the ‘Michigan Entrepreneur Award’.
Desai holds an MBA in finance from University of Michigan and bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from IIT, Bombay. He serves on various education boards such as John F.Kennedy School of Government, Students in Free Enterprise and Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
