3 New Tools Bring Machine Learning to Masses
Precog
What user will need to run this tool: enough know-how to know what exactly he wants out of this tool
What it’s priced at: still in stealth mode, not released to market
Precog, a machine learning tool that is still in the stealth mode (at the time of writing) is one of the companies that aims at becoming a PaaS (Platform as a Service) for ML. Precog visualizes a usage model by which users perform a number of actions on data. Users first "Capture" data by sending it explicitly (via a REST API) or implicitly to the Precog service, then "Enrich" data by combining it with data from public and partner-provided datasets. Data is then "Analyzed" using an assortment of machine learning techniques, and "Acted" on by means of the users’ applications or by pushing it to third party systems.
These companies which aim at providing “machine learning as a service” have different approaches to the idea, and should be followed, according to the report on ReadWriteHack, by many others in the next few months.
