24/7 Customer appoints Swaminathan chief people officer

BANGALORE: 24/7 Customer, a BPO service provider to Global 500 companies, has announced the appointment of V C Murali Swaminathan as Chief People Officer. The appointment strengthens 24/7 Customer's management team and sets the ground for the company's aggressive recruitment plans for the year. As Chief People Officer, Murali will be responsible for the entire HR operations of 24/7 Customer - including recruitment and employee relations. He will drive initiatives like career planning, mentoring and leadership development across various levels within 24/7 Customer and introduce competency-based processes within the organization. Murali moves to 24/7 Customer from Chennai-based SPIC Group, a billion dollar group with interests in Petrochemicals, Fertilizers, Pharma and Chemicals. At SPIC, Murali headed the entire HR function. Commenting on the appointment, S Nagarajan, COO & Founder, 24/7 Customer said, "In his role as Chief People Officer, Murali will be a significant force in supporting 24/7 Customer in identifying, building and nurturing top class talent across all levels. He will steer the growth that the company has charted by using his vast experience in HR practices and related areas of consulting". Murali said "I am delighted to be at 24/7 Customer. Murali holds a Post Graduate Honors Diploma in Management from XLRI Jamshedpur and a specialization in Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations. Murali has spent over 18 years of post qualification experience in different capacities handling various assignments in HR, Recruitment, Performance Management, Industrial Relations and Training & Development. He has also worked extensively in the sphere of Change Management, Leadership Development, Building Organizational Culture, Assessment Centre Design and Competency based HR practices. Murali has worked with organizations ranging from the Manufacturing sector to the Services industry and Management Consulting. His prior work experience spans sectors like manufacturing, services, management consulting with companies like Escorts, Oberoi Hotels, BOC Plc., Carborundum Universal and Mercer Management Consulting India. The appointment of a Chief People Officer supports 24/7 Customer's plans to attain a target of 7000 employees by the end of financial year 2004 - 05. 24/7 Customer recently opened a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Bangalore city and work is in progress on the state of the art campus that is set to come up in Bangalore by the end of 2004. In July 2003, 24/7 Customer secured $22 million in financing led by leading venture capital investor Sequoia Capital.
