Criticism of World Economic Forum – WEF has faced a lot of criticism from anti-globalization activists, who have charged it with being capitalistic and harming the environment. This began in the late 1990’s and has been continuing since. The anti-WEF campaigns have taken place in 2000, 2003 and even this year. The protests in Melbourne, Australia were disruptive as people became violent during the protests. Such protests are also held at Zurich. This year, people of Switzerland are having ‘an igloo protest camp.’ Their motto is “Don’t Let Them Decide for You, Occupy WEF.”  To most people, WEF is seen as a pompous way to show how the world leaders are concerned about their countries but in actuality is it is just the opposite. People of WEF need to be a bit more sensitive about the sentiments of people and need to tone down the grandeur of the meet. Also, a silent protest of the anti-WEF group is a good way to demonstrate that all protests need not be violent.
