20 Pct of Banned Sites Managed by Hindu Groups

The Indian government had blamed Pakistan social media of spreading rumors that had led to the fleeing of northeast people from India. On the other hand Pakistan had rejected the Indian stand on the doctored MMS that had triggered the exodus. When anything wrong happens in India, the blame goes to Pakistan. Pakistan had assured India that it would look into the matter that had triggered the panic, if India provided proof first. India is now readying evidence on the morphed pictures of Assam violence and would present it when the External Affairs Minister of India, SM Krishna goes to Islamabad next month.

The Indian government had planned to take the help of the U.S. in tracking the origins of offensive web content that were used to scare Northeast people across India. The decision to take U.S. help came after it was found that the main source of offensive images, hate SMSes came from Pakistan. The Indians had sought help from the U.S. and Saudi Arabia to track down the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of the web pages where morphed images and videos were uploaded.  But the U.S. said that it is not part of the Indian investigation for looking into the morphed images and videos that were uploaded on the internet by elements in Pakistan, which created social unrest in India. The U.S. also said that India itself was investigating in the matter.
