Google’s idea behind this product was to speed up your web access by means of data compression. Later it was discovered that Google Web accelerator had a tendency to prevent YouTube videos from playing and it also had many other consequences. As a result, Google killed the product in 2008. But the company used many of its technology to build its superfast browser, Google Chrome.

Life Span: July 2008 – January 2009
Have you ever heard of Lively? Well it was a web based virtual environment produced by Google. It required a special download and Flash in your system. The program provided a second life to the users, where they can chat, design their environments in chat rooms and so on. It is just like living in virtual reality as your own “Avatar.” But the product failed to take off after which it was discontinued.
