The Grifters released in 1990 and was directed by Stephen Frears. The movie is a gritty yarn about a petty con artist- john Cusack, who hooks up with a pretty crook -Annette Bening. Anjelica Houston plays the role of John Cusack's mother. John Cusack has torn loyalties between his estranged mother and new girlfriend--both of whom are high-strung grifters with their own angles to play. Cusack pulls off some pretty good small cons but it gets interesting when they get together for the big con.
