10 Most Intense Business Wars Ever

DISH and DirecTV's fight got ugly when they started throwing around lawsuits

The two biggest providers of satellite TV in the US are accepted enemies, but the bitterness didn't reach its climax until they went to court. Dish ran an ad campaign contrasting the prices of Dish ($39.99), DirecTV ($63.99), and cable TV ($63.83). DirecTV smacked Dish with a lawsuit, and said that Dish's claims were just faked; there were differences in package offers. The company ran its own series of ads which tried to expose various Dish advertising claims. The court denied its request to force Dish to pull the ads right away, and DirecTV eventually certain to drop the lawsuit. Dish dropped its countersuit as well. But the comparative advertising still hasn't stopped. An ad campaign by Dish in 2010 exclusively featured side-by-side comparisons of it and DirecTV.
