6) Wipro

Wipro ranks 6 on this list. It is the 2nd largest, by turnover, IT firm of the country, as of December 2011. Since, the world is very uncertain and fierce global micro-competition runs amuck, Wipro believes in innovating in 3 parts of a triangle - technology, sociology and the environment. It believes that innovation sin these 3 fields lead to all-round innovation. Analytics, mobility, cloud, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication and natural user interface (NUI) are quickly becoming mainstream in the firm. It believes in Institutionalized Innovation Culture to deliver better solutions to customers by pushing boundaries. This culture has introduced the firm to many new ideas like - connected home concept, a mobile switching router for emerging markets, cost-effective Base Terminal Station designed for GSM networks in underserved markets and bringing India's most powerful supercomputer to the firm. It has also developed application-based innovations like - Flex and Cigma delivery models, which are service-based models when compared to resource-based. IMEC and Wipro are partnering to develop and co-innovate the gen-next of intelligent systems based on nanoelectronics.  These are aimed at emerging markets through an initiative called Applied Research in Intelligent Systems Engineering (ARISE).
