The popularity of the company declined in 2004, as it was subject to several actions of lawsuits. The company has paid millions of dollars to settle it over the years. The company has been alleged for sexual discrimination, racism in hiring and abuse at various factories run by the Wal-Mart suppliers. So the store witnessed a great decline in its shares. In 2005, a documentary titled ‘Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price’ that highlighted the negative impact that the retailer has to face due to the local communities, gave it a little boost. But it took until 2008 for their share value to recover.
