Under the banner of Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films, this thriller movie is a sequel of 2011 movie, Murder 2. While, the casts are different this time as Imraan Hashmi replaced by Randeep Hoda who will play the lead in Murder 3 and newly included Aditi Rao Hydari and Mona Lizza. Murder 3 is directed and produced by Mukesh Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt.

Vijay Singh, CEO Fox Star Studios India cited that "We are very excited to announce that, Murder 3 is up for release February 15, 2013. Murder 1 and 2 had made a splash at the box office and with the third offering we aim to raise the bar -We are very happy to associate with Vishesh Films yet again and hope to recreate the Raaz 3 magic," reports Hindustan Times.
