Thomas Kailath

Having joined Stanford University as an Assosiate professor of Electrical Engineering in 1963, Thomas Kailath has spent over half a century serving the University. The first student to have ever received a Phd from MIT in the field of Electric Engineering, Thomas is now a well recognized scientist with various recognitions and awards, one among them being the Padma Bhushan. He has in fact conducted researches in a large number of mathematical and engineering fields.

An electrical engineer and a mathematician, he has also been honored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his "exceptional development of powerful algorithms in the field of communications, computing, control and signal processing"., as reported by the Indian Express. He has also been placed in the Nobel Class by the Institute for Scientific Information for his contributions in Engineering and Mathematics.
