Manju Goel

Indian-American Manju Goel is seeking election on a Republican ticket from eighth Congressional district of Illinois, has announced her proposal to seek Republican party nomination to run for a seat in the U.S. Congress, focussing on divisive issues like ‘Obamacare’ and the growing national debt.

Goel, an Aurora resident and a conservative, was born in India. Goel hopes to win the Republican primary in March and then take on the in office Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth from the 8th congressional district seat.

However, this will be Goel's first run for public office, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections website.

"America is on the wrong track," Goel said during the event, which was her first public comments since announcing her candidacy.

She further added that, "We are spending $1.60 for every dollar we bring in. and also stated that people have been discouraged rather than encouraged with troublesome regulations." Goel took particular aim at "Obamacare," which she called the ‘biggest of all job killers.’
