10 Greatest Rebirths In Tech History

#1 The mother of all comebacks, Steve Jobs & Apple

Apple might have been the world’s most valuable company for a couple of years before recently leaving its spot for Exxon Mobil, the U.S. oil giant. But just 13 years ago, Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy. On the other hand, Jobs' post-Apple startup, NeXT computing, which he founded after getting fired from Apple, had not exactly set the world on fire.

What is regarded as the mother of all come backs in the history of tech, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs returned to the company in July of 1997, and marked the beginning of Apple's and Jobs’ resurrection. The first thing he did was to get help from arch rival, Miccrosoft, and the Redmond Company came to Apple's rescue with a $150 million investment. Jobs humbly explained to the audience: “If we want to move forward and see Apple healthy and prospering again, we have to let go of a few things here. We have to let go of this notion that for Apple to win, Microsoft has to lose.”

Then followed the blockbuster Apple products like iMac, iPod, iPad, iPhone, which steered Apple to become most valuable company in the world.
