10 Biggest Flops in Tech 2012

3. Path Cheats Users

Path, the smartphone social network was caught in the line of fire this February when an app developer accidentally stumbled upon information that Path stored personal user information in its server without their consent and knowledge.

Path cofounder and chief executive Dave Morin responded saying "We upload the address book to our servers in order to help the user find and connect to their friends and family on Path quickly and efficiently," This was not enough to pacify users.

Path is now on the road to make amends and rectify this error in their newer versions for iOS and android. Ironically what sets path apart from other social networks is privacy. The service says "You should always be in control of your information and experience."
