Even if a technical cofounder has the ability to meet deadlines and even finish work on time, they may not estimate what’s realistic due to inability to say no besides leaving things on time. Taking things longer is not the reason of lack of work ethics; it is just that they have added more to this making it a little longer. Many of these ideas would have been from the co-founders side as well. A brilliant technical cofounder will have the ability to disagree with his business cofounder in order to not meet the deadline.

With one person, the technical architecture, staging/ development environments, code and specifications can become unorganized. Therefore a good technical cofounder needs to possess Development, staging and production servers, Subversion/ Git set up, Strict commenting and documentation that allows new hires to get started without too much confusion and a clear and organized product roadmap.
