EMC Networker:

EMC Networker is a suite for enterprise level backups and protection of data. The software primarily involves in disaster recoverance which includes backup services such as automated backups on tape, disk-based, and flash-based storage media across physical and virtual environments.  The software is available across Linux, Windows, Macintosh, NetWare, OpenVMS and UNIX environments. The deduplication process works with the help of add-on software EMC Data Domain (DD Boost) and EMC Avamar storage solutions.

The EMC Networker also comes with add-on database and application modules which provides backup services for products such as Oracle, DB2, SAP, Lotus, Informix, and Sybase, as well as Microsoft Exchange Server, SharePoint, and SQL Server.

"Networker and Avamar are coming together over time," said BJ Jenkins, President of EMC's Backup and Recovery Systems (BRS) division. "And both use features taken from Data Domain."
