10 Super Successful Startup Partnerships That Nailed The World

Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard

A coin toss tail, a friendship sail.

Year:  1939

Company: Hewlett Packard

Partnership: Bill and Dave Packard were classmates in Stanford's engineering program. Following graduation, Hewlett and Packard went on a long  two-week camping trip. Spending two weeks in the woods with the same person would drive any normal person insane.  Instead, Hewlett and Packard became very close friends. Shortly after, with the encouragement of Stanford professor Fred Terman, they started HP.

How it worked: Being best friends they shared similar ideas, management skills, strengths and very well complimented each other. They created a social, supportive work environment that contradicted the times. It was their ethic and  innovative work that enabled HP, its employees, and their business partnership to thrive into a magical success.
