10 Popular Brands and Their Great Comeback Stories

2. Dr. Martens

Klaus Märtens, who was a doctor in the German Army, once injured his ankle and found his army boots to be very much disturbing and hurting. Finally, he ended up designing a pair of boots with air-padded soles. Since then, there was no looking back for Dr. Marten’s boots and with the British shoe maker, R. Griggs Group buying the patent rights of Dr. Martens boots, some modifications were incorporated on the boots with yellow stitching as its trademark and were sold under the trade-name, ‘AirWair’.

But the sales of Dr. Martens boots started declining in the late 90s. Most of the shops in the Great Britain got closed and they went to the level zero.

It was in 2004, when Dr. Martens launched its vintage collection and in 2010, it attained mere stability with the production of 50 pairs of boots every day. But in 2012, Dr. Martens was named as the ‘Eighth Fastest-Growing Company’ in the Great Britain and is now one of the most desirable boot makers across the globe.
