10 Nations with Highest Gun Ownership

Iraq:
Iraq certainly makes it to the list of nations with highest gun ownership. The estimated total number of guns held by civilians in Iraq was noted to be 9,750,000, while the rate of private gun ownership was recorded at 34.2 firearms per 100 people. The country’s annual rate of homicide by any means per 100,000 population as of 2008 was 2.0. Iraq committed to a consensus decision of the United Nations on 21 July 2001, to adopt, support and implement the UN Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects.

Finland:
Finland is home to 32 privately owned firearms per 100 civilians according to the Finnish Ministry of the Interior. By the end of 2006 there were over 1.6 million licensed firearms.  Further, unlicensed firearms are estimated at around 1.5 per 100. There are about 650,000 firearms permit holders in Finland, with 60 percent of firearm permits issued for hunting weapons. Captured guns from World War II are believed to constitute the largest share of illegal firearms.
