Workshare names Sridhar Murthy CFO, Executive VP for operations

FREMONT: Workshare Technology Inc., a provider of document management applications, said that it has named Sridhar Murthy chief financial officer and executive vice president for operations. Most recently, Murthy was responsible for all financial and application service provider operations at Collabnet Inc. He worked previously as chief financial officer at Get2Chip Inc., acquired by Cadence Network Inc. in 2003 for more than $100 million. He has also held various finance roles at Ariba Inc. and Remedy Corp. In his new position, Murthy will direct all financial and operations activities for Workshare. Formed in 2001, Workshare has offices in London, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Cape Town, Hong Kong, and Melbourne. The company's more than 4,000 customers include Caterpillar Inc., Nortel Networks Corp. and Wells Fargo. Formed in 2001, Workshare raised $4.5 million from London-based VC firm Quest Partners in a 2002 Series A round used primarily to develop its Workshare Protect and Workshare 3 applications. Prior to that round, the company was self-funded.
