Chennai: Asia's largest software company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is focusing on remote infrastructure management (RIM) and expanding the segment by hiring new hands, said a company official Friday. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Connect 2008 - an information, communication and technology (ICT) conference - held here, S. Mahalingam, executive director and chief financial officer of TCS, said: "The RIM vertical contributes around 5 percent of the company's total revenue and is growing fast. We are expanding the segment by hiring new hands." He said TCS provides RIM service to clients in the U.S. and Europe. On appreciating rupee, he said: "We have learnt to manage depreciating and appreciating rupee. We resort to hedging to protect ourselves from losses." According to him, last year TCS made 5 billion profit from hedging.
