San Jose: Proxim Wireless, a provider solutions for broadband wireless networks, has announced that Tata Communications has selected Proxim Wireless as its supplier of Mesh and Point-to-Multipoint broadband wireless equipment operating in unlicensed frequency bands.
Tata Communications, with revenues of $2 billion is part of the $29 billion Tata Group, which has a global presence in more than 200 countries. Tata Communications has built one of the largest Global Tier-1 IP networks in the world.
The service planning team at Tata Communications evaluated a wide selection of broadband wireless products and vendors before picking Proxim as its supplier considering better coverage and manageability of Proxim Wireless equipment.
So far, Tata Communications and Proxim Wireless have collaborated on a number of projects including the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Taj Hotel properties and Mahindra Resorts. Proxim's Point to Multipoint, Mesh and Wi-Fi products were deployed in these projects to deliver video, voice and data over Wi-Fi. Proxim's dual-radio architecture separates the mesh backbone traffic from the edge access traffic, increasing capacity compared to a single-radio mesh architecture, stated a press release.
