SunGard to hire 300 more for India operations

New Delhi: SunGard Technology Services is making a big bet on Indian soil. A provider of software and processing solutions for financial services, higher education and public sector, the company is planning to raise its headcount in India to 2,000 by early 2009, from the existing 1,700 professionals, reported Business Line.
"We currently have up to 1,300 professionals in Pune and about 400 in our Bangalore facility. We expect our headcount to go up to 2,000 in the next six months," said Mack Gill, President of SunGard Technology Services.
India additions of the company would happen in the existing facilities. "India is strategic to us, as it is Research and Development (R&D) and engineering hub for our global operations. The India facilities have been involved in almost 90 percent of all our products. It focuses on full delivery and support of products, and also on the integration strategy in terms of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)," he said.
The company also has multiple delivery centers across the U.S., the UK and China. India accounts for almost 40 percent of the overall R&D work of the company.
The Pennsylvania headquartered company, whose annual revenue is pegged at $5 billion has four areas of business availability services, financial systems, higher education and public sector-, employs over 17,900 people in over 400 offices in 30 countries.
