Sify Technology's project wins ' Brandon Hall Award'

Chennai : The E-learning division of Sify Technologies, Managed Enterprise and Consumer Internet Services company has bagged the Brandon Hall gold award for its entry, 'A 3D online training program'. Sify has used second life to win this award for a record third time in a row. The project was titled '3-Hours-Execution of forced outage'. It was developed by GE contractual services. The Brandon Hall awards has a category titled 'Best use of virtual worlds for learning' under which Sify has won the award. This year’s winners of the Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Awards were honored at the 2008 Innovations in Learning Conference, held in San Jose, California. Brandon Hall awards is presented annually by Brandon Hall research , one of the leading research firms in training and development. Sify, using Second Life (SL)- the virtual 3D world, created an innovative online training environment with secured access. The project created a virtual power plant in 3D. CVS Suri, Chief Operating Officer, Sify Technologies said, "This award is a validation of our commitment to innovation, and high recognition of our meticulous design effort to provide our customers with the best of learning outcomes." A significant part of Sify's revenue is derived from Corporate Services, which include corporate connectivity, network and communications solutions, security, network management services, enterprise applications and hosting. This year the awards were given away in twelve categories totally. A total of 246 entries were submitted across categories and were evaluated by individual judges around the world. Brandon Hall, Ph.D., Chairman of the Awards program said, "We are so impressed with the quality of this year's winning entries. These winners set the standard for what innovative learning looks like today." Entries were submitted in the categories of Best Custom Content, Best Innovation in Learning Technology, Best Learning Team, Best Results of a Learning Program, Best Use of Blended Learning, Best Use of Blogs, Wikis, and Other Content-Sharing Tools for Learning, Best Use of Games for Learning, Best Use of Mobile Learning, Best Use of Video for Learning, and Best Use of Virtual Worlds for Learning. A total of 246 entries were submitted across categories. The entries were evaluated by independent judges from around the world. This year's winners of the Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Awards were honoured at the 2008 Innovations in Learning Conference, held in San Jose, California.
