Chennai: Sify Technologies, an enterprise and consumer internet services company has announced that its MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) network infrastructure has reached over 500 cities in India. This network empowers Sify customers with unprecedented reach and resilience in India. While seamlessly supporting converged multi-play services for a wide range of customer needs- including enterprises, carriers and consumers. Arvind Mathur, Chief Architect, Sify, said, "Our network engineering and operations teams have done a commendable job of doubling the number of cities covered by the MPLS backbone infrastructure in just twelve months. Our network reach of over 500 cities is supported by more than 4500 access sectors to ensure adequate coverage." Sify also implemented Cisco's CRS-1 (Carrier Routing System) in its IP Next Generation Network (NGN) Core recently. This makes Sify the first operator in the country to have deployed the powerful and advanced CRS-1 core network element that will pave the way for enhanced capabilities, reliability and scalability for multi-play services. It will also serve as a platform to roll out bandwidth intensive applications in the future. "Our enhanced network reach is just one of the four dimensions of our network evolution towards true IP Next Generation Network architecture that will encompass a multi-play IP network with intelligent routing , a superior analytics and billing, an integrated 'in-the-cloud' security, a native application-awareness and seamless integration to our existing four and future data centers," Mathur added.
