Siemens selects Wind River

BANGALORE: Wind River Systems, the global leader in device software optimization (DSO), has announced that Siemens Medical Solutions chose Wind River's VxWorks Developer Tool Kit (VDT) as the foundation for its latest imaging system, MAGNETOM Avanto. Wind River's VDT technology helped Siemens Medical improve development costs, debugging issues, application software testing, product testing and integration.
Siemens purchased Wind River's technology as part of its subscription-based enterprise-licensing model. As part of this model, Siemens will receive yearly updates to Wind River's technology, ensuring it always has the best and most innovative technology available for its customers and their products.
"Wind River helped Siemens Medical Solutions launch its products faster than our competition," said Jurgen Gut, technical project leader at Siemens Medical. "This medical discipline is still young and the market is characterized by an immense R&D effort. Total imaging matrix technology provides Siemens with a significant competitive edge over other manufacturers.
