Oracle eyes growth in Asia Pacific

New Delhi: Oracle, a provider of Enterprise Resources Planning software, with a stunning performance in 2007 fiscal year made it clear that its revenue in Asia- Pacific and Japan has increased by 26 percent, to $32 billion. The company is looking to integrate their business system in to areas such as financial services, communications, media, utilities, government, education, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and distribution in Asia-Pacific region. Charles Phillips, President, Oracle said "We delivered revenue growth across all product lines and geographies, and continues rapid expansion into high-growth cities of China and India." Oracle has set its foot print in 45 cities in India and China. "These cities are also experiencing high economic growth in the Asia-Pacific area. Demand from these cities are coming from emerging players in the local industries seeking to adopt information technology to better compete in the domestic and global marketplace," said Brian Mitchell, Senior Vice President, Oracle Asia Pacific. According to a company release, Oracle expanded its partner network to over 3,100 across the Asia-pacific and Japan region, signing up more than 430 new partners last fiscal to meet growing market demand for Oracle software and services. In India the company has won customers like BSNL, WNS Global Services, Genpact, Oxigen India prepaid services, Idea cellular, Tata Indicom and many more. The company has also secured customers from manufacturing and retail sector such as Krishnapatanam port company, Aravind Mills, Adity Birla Retail, and Shoppers' stop.
