Bangalore: California based Nvidia, the visual computing technology provider is reported to be quitting the cheap line business. News fly that further production of Nforce branded 500, 600 and 700 series chipset models shall be cancelled, though there are reports refuting the former. Michael Jong, Senior Director of corporate marketing for Nvidia says, "Nvidia has no intention of getting out of the chipset business and that the report is completely groundless." However, it has faced chip-packaging problem, which causes some Nvidia graphics chips to fail due to thermal stress. DigiTimes's report stressed on some anonymous industry source, according to whom, the creator of the nForce line called a meeting earlier this week with motherboard partners to estimate the support for it to continue producing chipsets. The report says that some motherboard makers already have canceled high-end motherboard projects based on the nForce seven-series chipset, which is also confirmed by The Inquirer. It is said that, the chips currently done or almost done will be out, but new designs won't be started, and early-stage projects are not likely to continue. Thus, the concept of Nvidia chipset may sound archaic in the future.
