Gujarat Govt to improve student's automotive skills

Ahmadabad: Aiming at improving the automotive skills of students, the Gujarat government has signed a MoU with General Motors India, the Indian division of the multinational automaker, General Motors (GM). The agreement is expected to provide training for the students of Industrial Training Institutes in Gujarat. The MoU was signed between Karl Slym, President and Managing Director, General Motors and Sujith Gulati, Gujarat Industry Commissioner. According to the agreement, GM will develop and provide technical courses on automotive technology through ITI, Tarsali. At the beginning, GM will invest around 40 lakhs in introducing and upgrading facilities at ITI, Tarsali located in Vadodara district of the state. Saurabh Patel, Minister of state for Industry said that with the massive inflow of investment in industrial and infrastructure projects in recent years in the state, responsive talented manpower are required at different level. Karl Slym, President and Managing Director, General Motors told that the courses offered by GM would leverage GM’s global resources and take advantage of expertise at manufacturing facility at Halol in Gujarat and GM Technical Centre in Bangalore. GM will also contribute to upgrade the existing infrastructure at the institute and assist in providing other course related benefits.
