Gigabyte extends Dual BIOS tech to all of its motherboards
Bangalore: Gigabyte Technology, a leading brand in the world's motherboard's market has decided to extend its proprietary Dual BIOS Technology to every single Gigabyte mother board with an immediate effect, to maintain its market share. "By extending Dual BIOS technology to our mainstream and entry level motherboards we are significantly differentiating our products from the competition and providing our customers with a better quality product," said Jackson Hsu, Motherboard Product Manager at Gigabyte Technology. He also added that most motherboard Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) issues are related to BIOS that has significantly reduced the RMA rates on the high-end products. Dual BIOS was first introduced by GIGABYTE in 1999. It has been reserved for only high-end Gigabyte motherboards due to the cost of an additional BIOS chip. The BIOS is the initial boot-up firmware that allows PC to find and check all the hardware, which the operating system (OS) needs to run with. Providing back-up BIOS, the dual BIOS automatically repairs the primary BIOS, when there is a physical damage or a virus attack to the OS. Consequently, there is a vast reduction of the RMA rates, when the faulty goods are returned to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. "We're happy to say that 100 percent of Gigabyte motherboards that are currently being produced use the best quality Japanese solid capacitors. Gigabyte strategy is to introduce high-end features on our high-end motherboards and then extend those features throughout our product range as we have with Dual BIOS and Japanese solid capacitors," said Hsu.
