Bangalore: Forum Nokia's 'Calling All Innovators', a global contest for developers to create mobile applications that will help better society, has been creating a buzz among the developer community. The closing date for the submission of application for the contest is 15th December. Those who submit before 10th November will win an early bird reward of a Nokia E71.
The contest challenges mobile application developers worldwide to create applications that will enhance the use of mobile devices in real world scenarios, in one of the three following categories: ECO-Challenge, Emerging Markets, and Technology Showcase.
First stage of contest will be at Asian level, in which winner will receive a prize of $10,000. He will also get an opportunity to represent Asia and compete with other regional finalists in the global contest for bigger wins of up to $25, 000 and the chance to have your applications deployed on millions of Nokia devices world wide. Apart from that he will win a trip to Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona.
By Eco-Challenge category, organizers mean an application that should efficiently work towards minimizing mobility's global environmental impact with mobile solutions in offering.
While Emerging Markets category lays emphasis on applications and services impacting the routine lives of millions with solutions for education, health data access, infotainment, rural agriculture, or any other application that improves lives in emerging markets, Technology Showcase category gives developers a chance to create and exhibit compelling, experience driven applications, using any technology that runs on Series 40 or S60 devices, such as Flash Lite, Java, Python, or open source.
