San Francisco: Users of BlackBerry cellphones in North America Monday faced a disruption in Email and Internet service for several hours. Canada-based Research In Motion (RIM), maker of BlackBerry mobile, notified the U.S. and Canadian telecom carriers about the unavailability of the service.
According to RIM the BlackBerry data services suffered from intermittent delays for about three hours and the problem was fixed in the early evening East Coast time in the U.S. Evidently no messages were lost and message queues were cleared upon the restoration of normal service levels.
"RIM continues to focus on providing industry-leading reliability in its products and services and apologizes to customers for any inconvenience," said a company spokesperson.
Disruption of BlackBerry service mainly affected business and government employees who rely on the devices to get work done while on the move.
