Chennai: American Megatrends India, a fully owned subsidiary of US-based computer solutions firm American Megatrends, has launched a GSM tracking system called Falcon-i. "Priced around 15,000 per unit, Falcon-i uses GSM technology to track a vehicle round the clock. It could be fixed to taxis and goods carriers," said Jayaram Krishnan, director and CEO of the company. Once the system is installed, the monitoring station records details about the vehicle's location, ground speed, date, time, fuel, and vehicle health parameters like engine, fuel temperature and battery voltage. Falcon-i's geo-fencing facility enables immobilisation of the vehicle when it tries to take a different route or go beyond a prescribed distance. "We are targeting revenue of 100 million during the first year of marketing," said Kirishnan. Besides the Indian market, the company plans to tap the Middle Eastern and African markets for its product.
