AMD announces 'Sparx 2009'
Bangalore: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a graphics processor major, today announced the commencement of 'Sparx 2009', a partner training program covering 10 cities across India. This year's partners training program will train more than 2,000 system integrators, resellers and retailers, who promote AMD platforms, including processors, graphics solutions and chipsets. 'Sparx 2009' will familiarize partners on AMD's recently announced products and technologies and is aimed at equipping partners with the right skills to enhance their productivity and profitability. In addition, the training program will also feature presentations and talks by representatives of relevant technology partners such as ASUS, Sapphire, Gigabyte, MSI and Cooler Master. 'Sparx 2009' has been initiated by AMD to educate partners on the combined power of AMD's new products in the processor, graphics and chipsets space, unleashed in the next generation platforms and solutions from AMD. Post the ATI acquisition, AMD has developed commercial platforms and solutions that combine microprocessors with ATI's strengths in graphics, chipsets and consumer electronics. This quarter has seen the launch of the new technologies and products including the AMD Phenom II range consisting of multi-core CPUs, ATI FirePro range of commercial level GPUs, the 40nm process based ATI Radeon HD 4770 range of consumer GPUs, AMD chipsets for motherboards and the recently enabled AMD Home Cinema Solutions. Ramkumar Subramanian, sales and marketing vice president, AMD India, said, "In the current environment, it is imperative that technology providers, such as AMD, are able to work along with partners to mutually benefit each other. AMD is at the right position to provide these technologies with its platform combination of chipset, processors and graphics. AMD's current technology roadmap has been tweaked to address the market in a much better manner. 'Sparx 2009' will communicate this to our partners." "The Annual Training program for partners was initiated in 2004 in an attempt to communicate the AMD advantage. Every year since then, it has been improved to remain contemporary with the intention of being able to equip partners with the right information and selling tools," said Deepanshu Sharma, general manager marketing, AMD India. The program rolls out in Bangalore and will extend to other cities in the country - Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi and Ludhiana.
